Hot extrusion is the earliest extrusion forming technology used in several extrusion processes, which is a variety of extrusion forming of metals at hot forging temperature with the help of good plasticity of materials. At present, hot extrusion is mainly used to manufacture ordinary long parts, profiles, pipes, bars and various machine parts. Hot extrusion can not only form non-ferrous metals and their alloys with good plasticity and relatively low strength, low and medium carbon steel, etc., but also form high-carbon and high-alloy steels with high strength, such as special structural, stainless steel, high-speed tool steel and heat-resistant steel. Because the billet must be heated to hot forging temperature for extrusion, there are often serious heating defects such as oxidation and decarburization, which affect the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness of extruded parts. Under normal circumstances, after hot extrusion forming of machine parts, mechanical processing such as cutting is used to improve the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of parts.
